About

Anděl Sudik is a director, improviser, actor, and writer based in Los Angeles and Chicago, known for her explosive energy onstage and in the classroom, and for her experiential, emotionally grounded teaching style. She calls herself a “proactive pessimist” and infuses all her work—no matter how abstract—with radical honesty and humor.

Born in Chicago and raised in California, Anděl returned to Chicago at 17 to study comedy and improvisation. She’s been a faculty member at The Second City Training Center, teaching across multiple programs including Conservatory, A–E, Health & Wellness, Advanced, and Youth & Teen. Her workshops have toured the U.S. and abroad, with stops at The Improv Shop (St. Louis), Monkey Business Institute (Madison), The Nest (Ohio), The Improv Retreat, Improv Utopia, and international festivals and communities in Barcelong(BIG), N Ireland(Belfast Improv), Iceland, Romania, Bulgaria, Norway, and beyond(She'd list it all if she could.)

As a performer, Anděl is an alum of Boom Chicago (Amsterdam), The Second City Touring Company, and the Jeff Award-winning ETC revue We’re All in This Room Together. She’s also the creator of acclaimed two-person shows and immersive theatrical experiences like Obits. Her directing credits include work at Second City, iO, Annoyance, Lyric Hyperion, and the Edinburgh Fringe.

Drawing from deep experience in longform, shortform, sketch, solo work, and devised theater, Anděl brings rigor, vulnerability, mischief, and a strong sense of play to everything she makes. She believes the most powerful thing we bring to the work is ourselves—whatever that means on any given day. She values time, honesty, and not updating her website enough. YesAndel.com
