The rules are what define the game and sometimes one unusual rule can open an entirely new world.
In this playful, exploratory workshop, we’ll experiment with structures that invite storytelling, movement, sound, repetition, transformation, and absurdity into our improvisation. Rather than focusing on established formats, we’ll discover how clear limitations can help performers make bolder choices, build stronger patterns, and create pieces that feel both cohesive and surprising.
Participants will play inside a variety of experimental structures, explore what makes a structure clear enough to follow and spacious enough to play inside, and adapt or combine structures to see what unexpected possibilities emerge.
Come ready to follow curiosity, embrace the unexpected, and discover what becomes possible when we change the rules. You do not need to arrive with a brilliant idea. The structure will give us somewhere to begin.
About
Tisse Mallon is a queer, quirky improviser, interactive performer, and educator who creates experiences rooted in authenticity, connection, curiosity, and play. They are the founder of Living Room Theater, an intimate improv project that has performed in more than 150 living rooms across Central Florida.
Beyond the stage, Tisse teaches emotional intelligence, communication, movement, presence, and authentic connection. Their work strengthens the skills at the heart of great improvisation: listening deeply, responding honestly, staying present, building trust, and helping people feel safe enough to take creative risks.
Tisse brings warmth, energy, and a deep belief that performance can be both wildly fun and genuinely connective.
